Style and Freedom

I often struggle with the expectations that an artist have a body of work that is recognizably their “signature” style.  Part of what I love about being an artist is the creativity to be unique and let myself explore and be free.

The art world does not always favor this course of creativity…at least in the world of commerce.  Why not?  (hint: Galleries like to depend on a style that sells)

Can I create a whole body of work that is conspicuously similar?  Sure…and here are a few examples.

So as my inner struggle continues, I will create for the joy of it, for the discovery and hope that those that like my work, will join me on my journey.
